This micro-credential certifies the learner’s ability to apply environmentally sustainable practices in hospitality, tourism and ecotourism workplaces, contributing to the protection of natural resources and the promotion of responsible tourism. It recognises the acquisition and validation of essential Green Skills required to minimise environmental impacts, support biodiversity conservation, and promote the sustainable use of resources within tourism-related activities.
The micro-credential focuses on practical competences that learners are expected to demonstrate during Work-Based Learning (WBL) experiences, including the application of environmental protection procedures, responsible waste management, efficient use of water and energy, identification of environmental risks, and promotion of environmentally responsible behaviours in daily professional activities.
Designed within the GreenVET4U project, this micro-credential supports the modernisation of Uganda’s TVET system by promoting competence-based assessment and the validation of Green Skills that are increasingly demanded by employers in the tourism sector. It contributes to improving learners’ employability while encouraging environmentally responsible practices aligned with Uganda’s sustainable development priorities and the transition towards a greener economy.
